Just the Reserves at home this afternoon, as the First team travelled to Dowty Rotol and the Third team kicked off early in Cheltenham League Division Four

Smiths Athletic played host to the First team in Division One of the Northern Senior League. The Firsts won 3-0, thanks to goals from Ollie Newman after 25 minutes, Stuart Walker on 80 minutes & Steve Conway five minutes from the end.

The Reserve Team, meanwhile, welcomed Newton FC to Cheltenham Road for their latest Cheltenham League Division One fixture. They drew 2-2, even though they had taken the lead after 5 minutes through Jamie Roberts. In the end, they needed a penalty, scored by Craig Mortiboys, just before the end, to secure a point

In the day's early kick-off, the Third Team visited League Leaders R.S.G. at Welch Road playing fields. They played a full part in an entertaining game but fell behind after 15 minutes. An equaliser just before half time was controversially ruled out, supposedly for offsiden before the lead was doubled 7 minutes after break. Soon after, Ben Slatter reduced the arrears from the spot and, thereafter, the Thirds looked odds on for an equaliser. However, R.S.G. scored the clincher with 6 minutes to go to make the final score 3-1.

Further details will be available soon on ASIB on the WEB.

The club wishes to record its thanks to them for taking up the reins and, also, to Mark for all the time and effort that he has devoted to the role of First team Manager over the course of the last 6 years.  Under his stewardship the team and, as a consequence, the club has taken great strides over the last few seasons, during which Mark's contribution has been incalculable.  Mark is a life member of the club and will, hopefully, remain involved with its affairs in some capacity but, for now, the club would like to extend its very best wishes to Mark for the future.
