The
first competitive fixture of the season played in sunny conditions at Bredon couldn't have got off to a worse start yesterday
as the thirds quickly found themselves 2-0 down after 10 minutes. However, they fought back and reduced the deficit from a
corner after 20 minutes. Dave Hawley headed into the top corner from a floated corner from Guy Tyrrell. The Thirds fought
back into the match against a confident Bredon and a change in shape helped the team regain some composure as they endeavoured
to play some of the football that they have produced over pre-season.
The Third team produced a spirited
performance in the second half and dominated the possession - all that was lacking was the quality in the final third.
Bredon looked dangerous from the break and a mixture of the woodwork and some poor finishing meant that the home side could
not close off the match. The Thirds strove to get the equaliser that they deserved and Simon Delaney and Ben Slatter
both went close towards the death. However, the score remained 2-1 and Bredon took the points in a well contested opening
match of the season.
